Online Communications & Kids Safety
I chose to listen to a podcast on iTunes by Brian Lehrer, that had guest speaker Will Oremus, a technology Reporter at the Washington Post, give a recap from a hearing regarding kids safety online and Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. The podcast was trying to relate this section of the act to the harmful effects of kids and social media. Basically, What Will Omerus summed up what how this act can pretty much free social media platforms from any negative posts that are uploaded by their users. For example, (this is an example I've come up with from what I gathered from the podcast) if someone goes on Tik Tok and promotes eating disorders among young teenagers, this can not be held against Tik Tok.
